Composers are starting to realise that the nyckelharpa rocks! I’m going to make a list of the ones I can find! If you know of something that should be here let me know. To be included you need to send me the link of the film (or TV series) from IMDB.

Stockholm Bloodbath (2024) – You’ll find Vicki Swan playing nyckelharpa, tagelharpa, bowed psaltery and double bass on this epic film
The Winter King (2023) – You’ll find Vicki Swan playing nyckelharpa and tagelharpa on the sound track and also on set in episode 7.
Boudicca (2023) – A German podcast all about the Celtic heroine. Vicki played nyckelharpa and tagelharpa on this production.
Another Day to Live Through (2023) – You’ll find Anna Tam on this sound track.
Vikings: Valhalla (2023) – Series 2 also needed two nyckelharpa players. You’ll find both Kati Rán and Erik Rydvall featuring on the soundtrack.
The Witcher Blood Origin (2022) – This mini-series was too big for one nyckelharpa player, Vicki Swan and Erik Rydvall both worked on this. Vicki taught Sophia Brown how to play the nyckelharpa, supervised on set and recorded with Sophia. If you see a nyckelharpa and hear it being played – that’s Vicki. If you don’t see an instrument, then it’s Erik. The nyckelharpas on set were made by Ian McMaster of Blackdown Harpas.
